anorexia.jpgAnorexia is recognized as a psychological condition where the patient has an obsessive fear of putting on weight. This eating disorder makes individuals too conscious of their body weight. They either starve themselves or indulge in too much exercise. It is a very complicated health condition which could even lead to the death of the patient.

As yoga heals the mind and the body, it has proved to be an excellent means to treat this condition. Some relaxation techniques, pranayama and yogasanas can be helpful in dealing with anorexia.

Suryanamaskara or sun salutation which is a series of 12 cyclic postures if practiced regularly every day will refresh your mind and body.

Other yogasanas that could be effective are, the shoulder stand, the bow pose (dhanurasana), the head to knee pose, mayurasana (peacock pose), trikonasana (triangle pose) and shavasana (corpse pose).

Pranayamas or breathing exercises like kapalabhatti, anuloma-viloma, ujjayi and brahmari are also helpful.
