People who should not use Gingko:
- If you suffer from any sort of blood circulation disorders or have experienced a recent heart attack or stroke, do not use ginkgo.
- If you are taking anti-coagulants such as aspirin, do not use ginkgo.
- It should not be used if you are taking any anti-depressant drugs or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI). This could cause a negative drug interaction.
- Pregnant and nursing women should not use gingko.
- It should not be given to kids.
Some Side effects and Cautions:
- Ginkgo biloba may sometimes cause gastrointestinal discomfort.
- It may also cause headache, stomach ache and general discomfort.
- It may also cause restlessness, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
- It may sometimes increase the risk of bleeding, and should not be used if you suffer from a clotting disorder.
In case you experience any of the above side effects, lower your dosage of Gingko Biloba. But if these side effects persist, stop using it all together.
Generally, Ginkgo Biloba supplements should be taking in the range of 40mg to 200mg per day.
