Lack Of Sleep May Cause Weight Gain

to7.jpgContrary to popular belief, a new study sugests that women who slept more each night tend to put on less weight during their middle-age.

It was observed that women who had 5 hours of sleep were one third more likely than those who slept for 7 hours to have a substantial weight gain, of 33 pounds or more.

The findings confirm that sleep habits do affect a person’s weight. Although the reasons are not clear, this may be due to the fact that sleep deprivation alters hormones involved in appetite control and metabolism.

It is also possible that people who sleep for less hours either eat more or exercise less often, because of fatigue.

Whatever may be the reason, these new findings suggest that sleeping for 7 hours or more each night, could help prevent weight gain in middle-age. The researchers conclude that “these findings have the important implication that increasing sleep time among those sleeping less than 7 hours per night may represent a novel approach to obesity prevention”.

So now, you don’t need to get tensed about putting on weight because of excess sleep. Relax and sleep in peace now !!!
