Wisdom Teeth Headache
The emerging of wisdom teeth can cause a throbbing headache. This is due to swelling of the gums because of infection.
When wisdom teeth are partly emerged, they often have gum pouches over their tooth crowns. These gum pouches constitute extra gum tissue, which can get infected. Infection leads to the swelling of the gums. The swelling disturbs the alignment of the whole jaw, as it comes in the way of the adjoining teeth. This disturbance in alignment affects muscles all the way up to the ear, resulting in wisdom teeth headache.
Sometimes, infections result in formation of pus. This can be very dangerous, and can even prove to be fatal if left untreated.
Wisdom teeth headache usually bothers a person 24/7 if he gets affected by it. The emergence of wisdom teeth will not give the person any wisdom, but it can give him a lot of pain!
Treatment for wisdom teeth headache
The most practiced treatment for wisdom teeth headache is removal of the wisdom teeth.
Go to a dentist in the beginning of the problem. The bigger the wisdom teeth get, the more difficult it will be to remove them.
Surgery is usually done by the dentist himself or by an oral surgeon. It is better if you get it done by an oral surgeon, as he has better equipment required for the job.
Removing the wisdom teeth is a delicate job. The lower wisdom teeth lie very close to nerves underneath. The upper wisdom teeth are in the vicinity of the sinuses. Any deviation during the surgery will affect these. So, the surgery should be done very carefully to avoid greater and longer term problems.
Surgery is done after administering anesthesia. After the removal of wisdom teeth, you may not be able to open your mouth for a few days. You will not be able to eat solid food for at least two weeks. But after that, everything will be normal.
Caution: if your wisdom teeth are not giving you any problems, don’t be in a hurry to get them removed. Consult with your dentist to know whether you can keep them.
