Nose is the most prominent feature of the face. Leonardo Da Vinci believed that the nose fixes the character of whole face. Today, nose piercing has become very trendy and fashionable.  It makes the person gorgeous and stylish.

History And Practice:
Nose piercing has a long history of 4,000 years which is mentioned in The Bible in Genesis 24:22. It is gradually becoming more socially acceptable and many celebrities are making it as practice.

Scientific Evidences:
The left side is the most common to be pierced in India, because that is the spot associated in Ayuveda (traditional Indian medicine) with the female reproductive organs. It also indicates that the piercing is supposed to make childbirth easier and lessens period pain.

• Nose piercing can be done with either a stud or a ring. A ring may be placed at any spot, but stud has a definite spot to put on the nose
• Jewelry should be hypo-allergic,which should have no adverse effects on nose

• Silver can cause adverse effects on nose. It can grow an infection during healing and can leave a black mark on your nose.

After the piercing is healed, you can change your jewellery very easily.

The Gun or Needle:
Nowadays, every professional nose piercer uses needle to do piercing. But, some people still follwing the practice of gun piercing. Needle piercing is the sefest piercing method, whereas gun spreads staphylococcal infection. Gun can’t be autoclaved and unsterile, hence it can cause infection very easily.

Healing:
The nose is a cartilage and it does not heal easily as flesh does. Even though, your nose got pierced properly with needle and have proper jewellery you may develop a problem with healing. The common problem you may face is development of ‘lumps’ around the pierced spot. The formations of these lumps are called ‘granulomas’.
Granulomas can be healed by applying hot compresses to the wound twice a day. The hot compresses should be hot enough to penetrate the wound and not be hot enough to burn the skin.
