This usually affects older women; and is mostly caused by osteoporosis. Dowager’s hump is preventable like most osteoporotic changes. With yoga practice, you can prevent the attack of Dowager’s hump.</p>

<ol>
<li>Sit on your knees with your buttocks resting on your heels.</li>
<li>Take your hands backward, grasp your left ankle with your left hand and your right ankle with your right hand.</li>
<li>While inhaling, tilt your head back. Lift your buttocks off the heels and thrust your abdomen forward. Your back will be in an arch like position.</li>
<li>Breathe gently as you remain in this posture. Try to remain in this posture for half to one minute.</li>
<li>As you exhale, come back to the original position.</li>
<li>Repeat the posture three times.</li>
</ol>
<p>This yogasana stretches and strengthens your back, spine, shoulders and arms thus defending you from Dowager’s hump.</p>
