Alternate Therapy for Sexual Impotence (Part 1)

with one comment

Primary instincts of life not just include hunger and sleep but also sex. There is no denial about it and there is absolutely nothing in not being upfront about it. While sex gives utmost satisfaction, inability to have a healthy sex life might lead not only to be an indicator of some physical disorder but also to a disturbed mental state.

Sexual activity demands a relaxed state of mind and complete concentration. But when tension takes over often this activity is dampened beyond repair. Sexual dysfunction is a crucial problem found commonly in case of men more than in women and it might take the form of impotence. If taken care at the initial stages sexual impotence can be dealt with healthy lifestyle.

Definition of Sexual Impotence:

“Impotence is the inability to maintain an erection of the penis for satisfactory sexual intercourse regardless of the status of ejaculation.”

Causes of Sexual Impotence:

• Diabetes
• Depression
• Alcoholism
• Tiredness
• Therapeutic use of Oestrogens
• Paralysis of parasympathetic nerves by drugs

Experts say, “Other causes of impotence include a devitalized condition of the system in general. The main problem of secondary impotence is the apprehension created by an earlier failure, which generates a good deal of anxiety for the next time. Impotence takes three forms. There is primary impotence when the man’s erectile dysfunction is there from the very beginning of sexual activity and he simply cannot have an erection. Secondary impotence is the commonest and this implies that the man can normally attain an erection but fails on one or more occasions in between normal activity. The third form is associated with advancing age.”

How To Deal With Low-Back Pain …

without comments

If you often suffer from lower back pain, you may need to strengthen your back and abdominal muscles. There are some exercises that can help reduce your low-back pain and protect against future back pain. Here are 5 simple easy-to-do steps to keep low-back pain at bay:

1. Press Up: Lie on your stomach and push your upper body off the floor by straightening your elbows. Hold for about 5 seconds and let your back relax as you lower your torso. Repeat this for 5-8 times.

2. Bridge position (to strengthen lower back): Lie on your back with knees bent. Feel flat on the floor and keep your arms at sides. Tighten your abdominal and buttock muscles and slowly raise your hips, so that your body forms a bridge. Hold for about 5-10 seconds , then slowly lower your body. Repeat 5-8 times.

3. Straight leg raises (to strengthen abdominals): Lie on your back with one leg straight and one knee bent, by keeping your foot flat on the floor. Now tighten the abdominal muscles to stabilise lower back. Then slowly lift the straight leg for about 6 to 12 inches and hold for 5 seconds. Lower it slowly, repeat 5-10 times, and then switch legs.

4. Lumbar stretch: Lie on your back and clasp one hand under each knee. Then slowly pull both the knees towards chest, pressing your lower back into floor. Hold for 10 seconds, relax, and then repeat.

5. Wall squat (to strengthen back, hip and thigh muscles): Flatten your back against a wall and squat until your upper legs are at a 45 degree angle to the wall (as if sitting in air). Hold for 1 minute while tightening your abdominal and buttock muscles and keeping knees aligned over feet. Then slowly return to the standing position. Repeat several times.

Apart from these exercises, you need to take good rest. Walking, cycling and swimming (but not the butterfly and breast stroke, which can put excessive strain on the lower back) are also good for the back.

How To Avoid Infections And Stay Healthy At Gyms

without comments

wo.jpgGyms are supposed to make you fit and healthier, but if you are not careful, you could soon acquire an infection. Gyms are breeding grounds for fungi, bacteria, protozoa and other viruses that thrive in warm, moist places, such as hot tubs, shower stalls, pools, sweaty clothes and shared gym equipment or towels.

Reduce your risk of infections with the following safety tips:

1. Make sure that all equipment is clean and dry and the staff provides bactericidal spray to clean the equipment. Wipe the machines with these disinfectant sprays before and after use.

2. Wipe weights before and after use.

3. Make sure that the air is properly ventilated in your gym.

4. Keep your hands clean at all times. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before and after exercise.

5. Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose, ears, and mouth after touching weights and machine hand rais, until you wash with soap.

6. Take 3 towels with you. Place one on machines and benches before you sit down to protect yourself from fungi, that can cause jock itch. Use the second one to wipe away your sweat and the third for covering the gym mat (if you don’t have your own mat).

7. Do not share personal items such as towels, flipflops etc.

8. Always wear flip-flops (sandals) because fungi and bacteria thrive in damp shower stalls and can cause athlete’s foot, staph and painful plantar warts. Never go barefoot in the locker room, shower or sauna.

9. Use your own mat or cover the one with a clean towel. Otherwise, you can get contact dermatotis, a bothersome allergic reaction.

10. Change your sweaty shorts as soon as possible. You can develop a yeast or bacterial infection by leaving them on. If you have any work post-exercise and can’t shower right away, change into dry underwear and shorts, then wash up and dry thoroughly at the first opportunity.

11. Sit on a clean towel in the sauna to avoid contact with the seat. Use a towel to sit in the locker room too.

12. Bandage any part of your skin that has cuts or abrasions before workout.

13. Wash and dry your feet thoroughly after a workout.

14. If you wear socks, use synthetic ones.

15.Use antifungal powder in your shoes.

16. Change your socks often, as sweaty socks are breeding grounds for fungi.

17. Change out of your gym shoes after exercising and wash them in hot water.

18. Avoid exercising at the gym when you are sick. Also avoid working out near people who are suffering from cold, flu or any other infection.

Moderate Drinking Can Benefit Men With High Blood Pressure

without comments

People with high blood pressure are usually advised to avoid alcohol, but a recent research by U.S. and Dutch researchers proved that a drink or two every day may actually reduce their chances of a heart attack.

The study conducted on 11,000 men showed that small to moderate amounts of alcohol can lower the risk of a heart disease, by increasing the levels of good cholesterol, and by making blood less likely to clot.

But heavy drinking raises the risk of early death even overall, and even from heart disease. Heavy drinkers in general have a bigger risk of high blood pressure, but moderate drinkers may be healthier.

Men are advised not to overindulge or have more than 2 drinks per day. Excess alcohol intake increases blood pressure and chances of a heart disease.

Weight Loss May Lower Prostrate Cancer Risk In Men

without comments

Here’s another reason for men to lose weight this holiday season: A new study found that losing weight reduces the risk of aggressive prostate cancer.

The study conducted on nearly 70,00 men found that men who lost more than 11 pounds had a lower risk of aggressive prostate cancer than men whose weight remained the same.  This study also indicates that weight loss can decrease the risk of severe prostrate cancer.

Men should avoid putting on extra weight as they get older, and if they are already overweight, it’s high time that they lose some pounds.

Apart from skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer for men, and the second leading cause of cancer deaths for U.S. men. About 1 in every 6 men gets affected with prostrate cancer during his lifetime.

So hit the gym and lose the flab !!!

Circumcision Can Cut The Risk Of HIV

with 2 comments

A recent study shows that circumcising adult men may reduce their risk of contracting AIDS from heterosexual sex by half, the U.S. government announced Wednesday, as it shut down two studies in Africa testing the link.

The announcement was made by the National Institutes of Health as they conducted 2 clinical trials, in Kenya and Uganda. The success of these trials confirmed that circumcision in fact helps to protect against HIV.

AIDS expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, of the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said, “Male circumcision can lower both an individual’s risk of infection, and hopefully the rate of HIV spread through the community”.

But he said that it is not the perfect protection. Men who get circumcised must not quit using condoms nor take other risks, and moveover circumcision may offer no protection from HIV acquired through anal sex or injection drug use. And you should remember that Circumcision is not a magic bullet, but a potentially important protection. Therefore circumcision should be used with other preventive methods.

Uncircumcised men are more susceptible to HIV because the underside of their foreskin is rich in Langerhans cells and sentinel cells of the immune system, that attach easily to the human immunodeficiency virus, which causes AIDS. And often the foreskin also suffers small tears during intercourse.

Height Loss In Men Linked To Heart Disease And Early Death

without comments

old.jpgAccording to a new research, excess shrinking of height in men with age, increases the risk of an early death. The study of older British men found that people who shrink in height by about an inch or more are more likely to die earlier than other men. They also have a greater risk of heart disease.

The study also found that height loss may be another marker of declining health in the elderly. Height loss is always accompanied by other evidence of frailty and weakness, such as weight loss, breathing trouble, loss of mobility and musculoskeletal problems, like arthritis.

The study was conducted on 7,735 men aged, who were selected from 24 British communities. It was found that men who lost three centimeters or more of height (about 1.18 inches) were at an increased risk of death, compared to men who lost less than a centimeter.

The study was not able to pin point the exact relation and why height loss is associated with an increased risk of death. It may be possible that there’s some underlying mechanism that is responsible for both height loss and other health consequences, that combine and increase the risk of death.

But more research is needed to measure the importance of muscle mass and muscle strength in the aging process. And it is unlikely that just by maintaining one’s height, one can gain longevity.

Divorce Is Bad For Your Health

without comments

cou.jpgSometimes, staying under the same roof becomes difficult for couples and divorce looks inevitable. Divorce seems an easy escape to cure all problems. But divorce, no matter how smooth it is, causes tremendous emotional and physical stress to both the partners, their children, parents and the whole family. You should remember that there is no such thing as easy divorce.

It has been observed that after a divorce, both the partners, no matter how independent they are, feel depressed and lonely. Divorce is not a cure, it infact creates a set of other serious problems - financial, physical and emotional. And study shows that women are the most affected from a bad marriage. They need to cope with the challenges of a single parent and manage all financial aspects. Women are also more dependent on thier partners emotionally, so they tend to feel stressed, depressed and unhappy, thus affecting their health in the long run.

Try to work at your marriage, instead of opting for divorce because ‘everyone else is doing it’. A successful marriage requires a lot of hard work from both the partners. If nothing else seems to work, seek professional help for marriage counseling. A marriage is like a small plant, that requires a lot of nurturing and caring, so take care of that plant. And see the beautiful fruits of marriage and love.

without comments

con1.jpgA German company has developed an easy to use spray-on condom for people who feel too lazy to use the traditional condom. It comes as a liquid in an aerosol can and can be sprayed onto the organ. After a few seconds, the liquid solidifies into the familiar latex and forms a tight seal.

This soon to be released condom spray is a great time saver and is still under the testing phase. So keep your eyes on the nearby drug store.
