A good diet is essential to control and cure jaundice. In this article, we reveal useful tips to help you adopt the best

diet for jaundice.

Foods to Avoid

Jaundice patients should avoid salt, spicy food, oil, non-vegetarian food, fried items and pickle.

Fruits in Diet for Jaundice

Include fruits such as pears, lime, grapes and apples, and also sugarcane juice in your diet. Avoid banana since it can disturb liver activity. Drink plenty of fruit juice and eat fresh fruit salads to get benefits.

Vegetables

Exclude potatoes and tomatoes from your diet. Eat simple boiled vegetables like brinjal, pumpkin, cabbage, carrot and beans. Add a little bit of pepper and salt to add taste.

Other Beneficial Foods

Curd rice is one of the best foods for jaundice condition. Rice cakes are good too. Avoid all kinds of flour except rice flour. Wheat items should also be avoided.

More Tips on Diet for Jaundice

Your diet should be low in protein and rich in carbohydrates. Try to consume only juice and water for a week to eliminate toxins from the blood. This is essential to replace electrolytes during vomiting caused by jaundice. Once you overcome vomiting and nausea, you can gradually start taking solid food.

Avoid Fats

Avoid foods containing animal proteins or fat. Butter and cream which are rich in fat should therefore be avoided. Vegetable proteins like soy are beneficial. Also, proteins from white meat and vegetables are essential to maintain health.

Small Meals

Instead of three regular big meals each day, eat five smaller meals to prevent vomiting and provide rest to your digestive organs.

Yogurt is Good

Probiotics or good bacteria found in yogurt can help to speed up the recovery process in jaundice patients.

Avoid Alcohol

Alcohol should be completely removed from your

diet for jaundice

. This is essential especially if you suffer from liver damage.

Cirrhosis is a severe condition, in which distortion of liver takes place. This distortion of liver is the result of the continuous damage caused to the liver cells and tissues. The distortion of liver blocks the flow of blood. All these processes gradually result in the functional failure of the liver.

Liver is an important organ of our body. Liver helps in maintaining the levels of sugar in blood, formation of glycogen, produces enzymes which participate in various metabolic activities. So, liver plays a vital role in our body, any kind of malfunctioning in this organ can yield severe consequences.

Various Stages Of Cirrhosis:

There are four main stages of Cirrhosis. These stages are:

Secondary Stage Of Cirrhosis:

This is the second stage in which the damage to the liver cells have resulted in excessive formation of connective tissues. By the time, this stage of damage is reached the large part of liver is being damaged by the disease. Jaundice is one condition which occurs in this stage due to the accumulation of the bile products in the liver.

Tertiary Stage Of Cirrhosis:

This is the third stage in which the partial dysfunction of the liver has taken place. Due to fibrosis, enlargement in many parts of liver takes place. The formation of gall stones take place due the absence of bile juice in the liver. Accumulation of toxins is also in progress to the dysfunction of the liver.

Final Stage Of Cirrhosis:

This is the final stage which is recognised by the retention of fluid in liver. This stage can also result in liver cancer or even in kidney or lung failure.

Apart from these, inflammation and pain in the abdominal region will there. In severe cases, vomiting with blood is also possible. The skin and whites of your eyes will turn yellow, count of red blood cells will go down all indicating a problem in your liver.
