This is a mineral available in nature, which is a white powdery substance. It is not a harmful substance as it is found in nature. Baking soda is widely used in many varieties of food which we eat daily. Uses of baking soda are not only restricted to food, but can be used for many other purposes. </p>

<strong>Baking Soda Uses:</strong><br />
<strong>Personal Care:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Make toothpaste:</strong> You can make a paste with 3 parts hydrogen peroxide and 1 part baking soda and can use it as an alternative to commercial toothpastes that are available in the market. Or you can just dip the toothbrush with toothpaste in baking soda. This is another alternative way to use baking soda for dental care.</p>
<p><strong>For soaking oral appliances:</strong> Take a glass of warm water and dissolve baking soda in it. Later, soak oral appliances such as dentures, retainers and mouthpieces in this solution. This solution loosens food particles and eliminates odor. Also, you can brush the oral appliances with baking soda.</p>
<p><strong>Mouth freshener:</strong> Dissolve a tablespoon of baking soda in half a glass of water and use it for rinsing your mouth. This neutralizes the odor.</p>
<p><strong>Avoid harsh deodorants:</strong> Instead of using harsh deodorants, you can pat baking soda onto the underarms for neutralizing body odor.</p>
<p><strong>Use as a body exfoliant and facial scrub:</strong> You can make an excellent body and facial scrub using this. Take 3 parts of baking soda and a part of water for making paste. Rub this paste onto your body gently in circular motion for exfoliating the skin, later rinse thoroughly. You can use this daily. </p>
<p><strong>As an antacid:</strong> This is an effective and safe antacid for relieving acid indigestion, heartburn and/or sour stomach. Before using, refer to the instructions on the package of baking soda. </p>
<p><strong>For hair:</strong> Even though vinegar is an excellent remedy for hair care, baking soda also has its own place. Take a little amount of the powder in palm with your shampoo. Shampoo your hair as usual and thoroughly rinse it. This removes the residue which some styling products leave behind on the hair. </p>
<p><strong>Cleaning:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Cleaning microwave:</strong> Put some baking soda on a damp sponge. Rub this inside the microwave. This cleans the microwave and removes the smell of harsh chemicals. Later, rinse with water. </p>
<p><strong>For polishing silver flatware:</strong> Make a paste with 3 parts of baking soda and 1 part of water. Rub this mixture on silver using a clean sponge or cloth. Now, wash it thoroughly and dry it. </p>
<p><strong>For cleaning the floor:</strong> Add half a cup of baking soda in one bucket of warm water. Mop the floor with this water for removing dirt and grime. It gives clean and sparkling floor. To remove scuff marks, put some baking soda on clean and damp sponge and then rinse it.</p>
