Is Ear Candling Safe?
Well, miracles do happen but the flame at one end of a wax cone simply cannot remove the wax inside your ear by sucking it out. Don’t get carried away by such claims of the candle manufacturers who would assure you that such miracles do happen.
This is how the ear candles actually work. The smoke and heat from the ear candle enters your outer ear canal while the candle is lit, thereby loosening the ear wax. This stimulates the body’s natural excretion of wax. The wax falls out of the ear within 5 days.
Its claims of curing conditions like hearing loss and other diseases of the ear are simply not true. On the contrary, several ear injuries have been identified in people who have used ear candles.
FDA warns that the practice of ear candling can be very risky as it can cause burns or other injuries to the ear and surrounding area. In Canada, selling of ear candles is illegal considering its dangerous effects.

I have had ear candling done twice and on both occasions the wax was attached to the end of the cone. I would agree it does not cure the hearing loss but quite a bit of wax came out immediately and not in five days.
duh– candles aren’t safe. but loosening up the wax and getting it to all come out– how about that?? safe or not?
