Has it happened to you that all the excitement from owning those gorgeous new stilletos fizzed out on the very first day of putting those on? Yes, you are right. I am referring to the menacing
shoe bite
it gave you. Shoe bite is essentially associated with new shoes. It is the sore that a new ill fitting shoe leaves on your foot. Like all other things in life, the feet need some time to get used to the new shoes. Age and wear and tear helps us to get the better of them.
5 things to remember before buying shoes in order to prevent shoe bite
- Most of the times ornate, pointed or sharp edged shoes are uncomfortable. The feet has to fit itself in a narrow constricted space without any breathing room. The skin gets pinched and eventually bruised in the corner of the toes. The right fit is very important in case of shoes.
- The material or leather used in shoes should be of a good quality. If you are sensitive to any material, care should be taken to see that the shoes are not made of them.
- It is important to try shoes before purchasing them. Walking around in the shoes a little bit before the final buy gives an idea as to how comfortable they are going to be. Shoes should have a good ¼ to ½ inch space beyond the point your longer toe nail reaches.
- Applying petroleum jelly or a little coconut oil around the inside edges of the shoe helps to soften it and make it more pliable for the feet to glide in.
- In case the shoe feels a little squishy, putting on an adhesive plaster on either side of the toes can prevent abrasion and bruising.
Home Remedies to treat shoe bite

- Wearing an open soled footwear while nursing the wound is essential. Avoid wearing socks as it can make it worse.
- An aloe vera gel can have a soothing effect on the wound.
