Home Remedies for Indigestion

Indigestion is a condition of stomach where the digestive juices are not properly secreted and causes great discomfort. Indigestion can be primarily due to consumption of several foodstuffs simultaneously. Gas problems, heartburn and acidity may also be considered as digestion problems. Women are more susceptible to indigestion during menstrual periods. This problem can be solved by following certain home remedies for indigestion.

Following are some of the effective home remedies for indigestion:

  • Pineapple:

    Drink half a glass of pineapple juice after meals. This is the most beneficial remedy for treating indigestion.

  • Ginger, lemon and honey:

    Combine two tablespoons of honey and a tablespoon each of lemon juice and ginger juice to a glass of lukewarm water. Stir them well and drink it to solve indigestion problem. This is another effective natural cure for indigestion.

  • Orange:

    This is another best remedy to cure indigestion. Consume an orange if you are suffering from indigestion. Orange gives rest to digestive organs and provides nutrition.

  • Grapes:

    Consume grapes or grape juice. This is also a great remedy to solve indigestion.

  • Lemon juice:

    It helps in treating indigestion because it fights against bacteria. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice to a cup of hot water and drink it before having meals. This helps in preventing acid indigestion.

  • Ice bag:

    Apply ice bag on the stomach for about 30 minutes after meals.

  • Baking Soda:

    Mix equal amounts of water and baking soda in a glass. Drink this to get immediate relief.

  • Cumin seeds:

    In a glass of water, mix a tablespoon of cumin seeds and drink it. This also helps in treating digestion problems.

  • Coriander leaves:

    Mix a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of coriander leaves and have it twice a day. This is another effective remedy for digestion problems.

  • Ginger:

    Chew a small piece of fresh ginger with salt for about 5–10 minutes before meals. This helps in stimulating digestion. This is a natural remedy for indigestion.

  • Aniseed:
