What Are The Causes Of Body Odour In Children?

Foul smelling odor from your child’s body is a serious issue because it is believed the body should not release odor till the time the person attains puberty. The problem of body odor in children can be an indication of poor hygiene or it might be due to some underlying problem also.

Causes Of Body Odor In Children:

Some of the causes of body odor in children are:

  • Presence Of Bacteria:

    The foul smell is generated due to the presence of bacteria. If your child perspire more then there are chances of the bacteria to survive. Actually, perspiration itself is odorless but the presence of bacteria can result in the bad smell.

  • Metabolic Disorder:

    Sometimes the body of child is not able to produce certain enzymes which are responsible for the breakdown of some chemicals in the body. For instance a disease called Phenylketonauria. This condition is hereditary. In this condition, the body is not able to breakdown an amino acid called phenylalanine in the body. The accumulation of this amino acid in the body can result in the foul odor.

  • Premenstrual Adrenarche:

    It is the condition in which the glands are stimulated and this stimulation results in the symptoms of puberty at an early age. Body odor is one such symptom.

  • Hormones Added In Cow’s Milk:

    The addition of some hormones to cow’s milk can also result in body odor of children. Some organic milk or milk substitute contain hormones in them. These hormones release some enzyme which causes body odor.
