Cirrhosis is a severe condition, in which distortion of liver takes place. This distortion of liver is the result of the continuous damage caused to the liver cells and tissues. The distortion of liver blocks the flow of blood. All these processes gradually result in the functional failure of the liver.
Liver is an important organ of our body. Liver helps in maintaining the levels of sugar in blood, formation of glycogen, produces enzymes which participate in various metabolic activities. So, liver plays a vital role in our body, any kind of malfunctioning in this organ can yield severe consequences.
Various Stages Of Cirrhosis:
There are four main stages of Cirrhosis. These stages are:

Initial Stage Of Cirrhosis:
This is the first stage of damage. There are various symptoms which depicts the initiation of this stage. Like loss in weight, fatigue, nausea, loss in appetite, itching all over the body which will increase over the time.

Secondary Stage Of Cirrhosis:
This is the second stage in which the damage to the liver cells have resulted in excessive formation of connective tissues. By the time, this stage of damage is reached the large part of liver is being damaged by the disease. Jaundice is one condition which occurs in this stage due to the accumulation of the bile products in the liver.

Tertiary Stage Of Cirrhosis:
This is the third stage in which the partial dysfunction of the liver has taken place. Due to fibrosis, enlargement in many parts of liver takes place. The formation of gall stones take place due the absence of bile juice in the liver. Accumulation of toxins is also in progress to the dysfunction of the liver.

Final Stage Of Cirrhosis:
This is the final stage which is recognised by the retention of fluid in liver. This stage can also result in liver cancer or even in kidney or lung failure.

I am in the first stage of Cirrhosis, after having Hep C for about 30 years.
I know the list is not meant to be complete, but it is missing some very important symptoms and I believe these are the symptoms that might bring people to a doctor. They are the mental/behavioral symptoms. While fatigue is mentioned, potential symptoms like depression, difficulty in focusing, sleep problems, short term memory issues and on another physical end, it is the difficulty in creating insulin (high blood sugar). The fatigue is unique and is not fixed by sleep.
