Psychogenic Seizures

Psychogenic seizures do give an impression of epilepsy but are due to the same reason that is why they are known as nonepileptic seizures. Such seizures are psychogenic which means that begin from the brain. These are caused due to the activity of the subconscious brain.

Psychogenic Noneleptic Seizures:

Psychogenic noneleptic seizures are the attacks which are similar to epilepsy but do not have electric discharges as them. So, they are different from epilepsy. This disorder is considered to be a conversion disorder which is generated due to some psychological disturbance in the brain.

Causes For Psychogenic Noneleptic Seizures:

The causes for psychogenic noneleptic seizures includes:

• Somatoform disorder
• Factitious disorder
• Malingering
• Some trauma of the past can also result in the development of this condition.

Risk Factors Associated With Psychogenic Noneleptic Seizures:

The risk factors which are associated with the condition of psychogenic noneleptic seizures are:

• The patient suffering from this condition have a history of multiple vague, they might suffer from a major depressive disorder or an anxiety disorder.
• These patients might have some abnormal personality traits or personality disorder which is full blown.
• These disorders can be related to some trauma that had taken place in the childhood like child abuse, attempt to rape etc. The condition of psychogenic seizures usually is the representation of the suppressed trauma in the brain.
• In adverse case this condition can result in false memory syndrome. So, this condition must be handled carefully.
• Some other conditions like adverse dynamics in family, disability in learning and bullying in adulthood can be result in this condition.
