Dissociative Disorders

Dissociative disorders is the condition in which the breakdown of one’s approach of his/her environment, remembrance, existence or awareness takes place.

Types Of Dissociative Disorders:

There are basically 4 types of dissociative disorders. These are:

  • Dissociative Amnesia:

    It is the condition in which a person forgets the important personal information which is generally related with any traumatic incident of his life. This loss in memory creates a gap in the history of his personal life.

  • Dissociative Fugue:

    It is the condition in which the person travels foolishly away from his home and when he land up in the new space he forgets about his past. Thus losing his/her identity. This condition arrives because the person is confused about his/her personality due to excessive stress of travelling.The person in the state of fugue appears to be normal and once the condition goes away he forgets what has happened when he/she was in the state of fugue.

  • Dissociative Identity Disorder:

    This condition is generally termed as “multiple personality disorder.” In this condition person experiences two or more than two identities. When such condition arises the new identity takes over the previous one thus forcing the loss of information related to the previous identity. Although, both the identities have their separate history and background which is not at all interrelated.

  • Depersonalization Disorder:

    In this condition the person is detached from himself or herself entirely. The person suffering from this condition feels as they are dreaming or watching themselves on silver screens. They feel as if they are detached from their own body or if they are going crazy.It is for the same reason that they frequently become depressed and anxious.
