Summer Time Tips for Skin

Summer time is all about vacation, outing, swimming and surfing. But it brings along with it rashes, yeast infection, sunburns and sometimes severe sunstrokes. Let us figure out some home based tips that could lessen the whole sun effect and therefore not allow the sun to become a spoil sport at your vacation spot.

During summer one tends to sweat more and this in turn makes the skin less supple or rather less elastic. This is because salt water and chlorine makes the skin drier, and sweating makes you loose calcium. Follow a few steps at home to prevent loosing calcium:

• Eat low-fat dairy products like skim milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese to replace calcium.

• Drink lots of Water to avoid your skin become dry. (a) Women should take 92 ounces or 8 to 10 cups of water (b) Men should take 125 ounces to keep from getting dehydrated

• Eat fruits that are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. Like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

• Eat foods rich in protein such as nuts, seeds, beans, and lean meats. All this would help heal weathered skin.

• To avoid damaging your skin schedule your sun time for early or late in the day.

In case if you are to expose yourself to sun for long and intend to use Sunscreen lotion before going out, then you need to take care of a few things:

• Use less toxic sunscreen lotions as there are at least 5 chemicals in the strong ones that have severe side effects. You can find such at the Health Food Stores.

• Use a Sunblock or a Shielding lotion that can protect you from the Sunscreen’s effects.

Precautions to be taken before a long summer vacation:

• If you plan to acquire a deep tan this summer, use an indoor tanning lotion. It works superficially on the skin and will not cause any harm.

• Swimming is a good option but be careful that you do not sit around very long in a wet bathing suit. A wet bathing suit is a perfect medium for yeast infections. To avoid infection reduce the intake of Sugary food and instead take Yogurt.

A little care and you can have not just a great summer but also a healthy time afterwards
