Natural Ways to Combat High Blood Pressure

High Blood Pressure is caused due to faster pumping of blood by your heart (greater than the normal volume of 130/85) and due to narrowing of arteries.  It increases your chances of getting a heart stroke. High blood pressure can be easily controlled by doing regular breathing exercises, pranayama, meditation and yoga. Follow these home remedies and preventive measures to lower the risk of high blood pressure:

  • Take two spoons of honey mixed with onion juice everyday as a remedy for high blood pressure.
  • Eating Papaya in empty stomach is also good for reducing blood pressure.
  • Garlic is excellent for your heart. It has the potential to lower your blood pressure, cholesterol levels and prevent blood from clotting.
  • Having food items containing Folic acid (a B vitamin) helps reduce high blood pressure.
  • Supplementing your diet with calcium reduces your systolic pressure.
  • Have low calorie diet.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol and tobacco.
  • Include less salt in your diet. Common salt contains sodium which increases the amount of fluid in your vascular system.
  • Drink plenty of water daily.
