Now Italy Plans To Ban Ultra-Thin models

thi1.jpgItalian government and fashion chiefs are working on a rule to ban the use of ultra-thin models on the catwalk circuit, as there is immense pressure on the fashion world to promote healthier looks.

It was Spain that first barred such models who were below a certain weight from the Madrid fashion show in September. Now the industry leaders in Argentina and Brazil have joined a campaign to ensure that the models are over 16 years and are not excessively thin. The recent death of Brazilian model Ana Carolina Resto due to anorexia, has further highlighted the gravity of the situation.

This new manifesto will be launched before the Milan women’s fashion week in February, which is a major event in the catwalk circuit. And the fashion chiefs want all major fashion houses, modeling agencies, photographers and everyone working in the fashion world to sign the charter.

Now women might need to undergo medical checks for body weight. Being ultra-thin is no longer in, be healthy and avoid any complications.
