If you are too tired and sick of using the regular contraceptive pills, here is some news for you. Now you can get a contraceptive that’s convenient and tasty. These are the first of its kind chewable birth-control tablets that are spearmint-flavored. These tablets are tiny and can be swallowed even without chewing. These tablets have hit the pharmacy shelves now.
Femcon Fe
, contains the same hormones as the standard oral contraceptives, but offers a new option for women who don’t like swallowing pills. The product was launched officially by Warner Chilcott, the makes prescription dermatology and women’s health products on Thursday for women who sometimes forget to take the pills.
The company said that it is convenient for women who want to carry it in a purse, or a credit-card sized dispenser kept inside a velvet pouch. Femcon Fe is just a chewable version of the company’s Ovcon 35, a birth control pill that has already been on the market for about three decades.
But women must drink about 8 ounces of water with this tablet. Like all other oral contraceptives, Femcon Fe does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases and also carries an increased risk of blood clots, heart attack and stroke, particularly for female smokers over the age of 35.
