Youth To Face The Brunt Of Diabetes Epidemic

Medical Experts warned that there will be more than 380 million people who will be living with diabetes by the time today’s children reach their thirties and forties, if no action is taken to stop the current prevalence.

It was told that the current generation of children and adolescents will have to bear the growing epidemic of diabetes. And of particular concern is the rising cases of type 2 diabetes among young generation. The more incidence if diabates can be linked to the rise in obesity among adolescents.

Doctors disclosed that more than 200 children develop diabetes in a day. The study showed that over 70,000 children develop type 1 diabetes every year and about 440,000 children worldwide under the age of 14 now live with type 1 diabetes. And type 2 diabetes, which was previously unheard of in children, is rising at an alarming rate, especially among ethnic minorities.
