Caffeine consumption causes dehydration of the body, terrible headaches, shakes and irritability. It can prove disastrous for your body after some time.

Colas cause mineral depletion in your body. Soft drinks lower calcium levels in the body and increase the phosphate levels, thus affecting the bones. Soft drink consumption is a major factor for osteoporosis, weak bones and fractures. Cola consumption in children imposes a significant risk on the proper development of bones.

Heavy soft drink consumption can also interfere with your body’s metabolization of iron and diminish nerve impulse transmission, thus affecting your brain in the long run. Colas are also very bad for the teeth. They dissolve tooth enamel, make the teeth and gums weaker, and also stain them.

Many of us consume colas to beat the heat and quench the thirst in hot summer days. But drinking colas actually increases your thirst. Remember there is no substitute for water and fresh fruit juices.
