Foods With Hidden Fat

co91.jpgWe all know that burgers, pizzas, chocolates, cakes and cookies are loaded with fat. But apart from these, there are also some foods that contain hidden fats, and we tend to eat them daily without realizing it.

Take a look at this list of foods with hidden fat and cut down on them:

1. Pies and pastries:

Pies are loaded with fat. So avoid them or limit their intake. Cut pies and pastries, if you want to lose weight.

2. Mayonnaise:

Use low-fat or fat-free yoghurt or Cottage cheese in your sauces and replace mayonnaise with low-fat dressing or a drop of soya sauce in salads.

3. Nuts:

Nuts should form a part of the balanced diet, even though the fat content is high in them. But limit the intake of nuts to a handful per week.

4. Peanut butter:

Look for the sugar-free variety of peanut butter in your grocery store. Limit your intake of peanut butter to four teaspoons per week or lesser.

5. Red meat:

Eat lean meat and include more fish and poultry (with skin removed) in your diet than red meat. Cut all visible fats from the meat before cooking.

6. Coffee creamer:

Coffee creamer is loaded with saturated fat. Simply don’t add coffee creamer to your coffee. Just use low-fat or fat-free milk.

7. Potato crisps:

Before buying any snacks, read nutrition labels carefully, the kilojoule and fat values vary from product to product. Infact Popcorns (not the pre-popped varieties) is a healthier option than most potato crisps (without butter ofcourse).

8. Cheese:

Choose low-fat cottage cheese rather than harder cheese varieties. Cut foods that contain cheese, like pizza, burger, pasta dishes and toasted cheese sandwiches.

9. Deep-fried delicacies:

Deep-frying is never a good idea. Don’t eat deep-fried food and sweet treats, like doughnuts, vetkoek and koeksisters. Always choose baking, grilling or poaching over frying as cooking method.

10. Avocadoes:

The monounsaturated fats in avocadoes is essential for a balanced diet, but too much avocado could add unwanted fats to your body. Don’t eat more than one medium-sized avocado per week and don’t combine with mayonnaise. Use lemon juice to add some flavour.
