Relapse after treatment for drug addiction is not uncommon, but yoga and naturopathy can greatly reduce the incidence of relapse.
According to a recent study, the non-medicative approach of yoga and naturopathy for treatment of drug addicts is more effective compared to the allopathic or medicative treatment.
It has been observed that even after getting treatment for addiction, drug addicts often go back to their previous state and start using drugs. Yoga may be extremely beneficial in such situations, to keep the addiction away.
The study was conducted on an experimental group comprising of 205 drug addicts over a period of three years. They were treated using yoga, naturopathy and counselling.
The yogic treatment included pranayama, jalneti, kapalbhati, asana etc. The naturopathic treatment included enema, wet pack, mud pack, cold bath, spinal bath etc.
The study concluded that non-medicative treatment through yoga and naturopathy is more effective in detoxification of the body.
