Losing weight is not an easy task. Once you have decided that you want to lose weight, start acting. And follow these 20 tips that will help you lose weight and keep it off in the future.
- Set realistic goals. And stick to them. And find out your starting point. Always decide in advance how much of total weight you want to lose. Choose a weight loss plan that makes sence to you. Don’t get into the trap of weight-loss advertisements and pills.
- Walk all the way to success. Take a walk after dinner or early in the morning for 1 hour. Buy a pedometer, that keeps track of how many steps you take daily. And wear it while exercising and walking. Use staircases instead of the elavator.
- Exercise and Pump iron. It is probably the easiest trick to weight loss and weight loss maintenance. Workout for atleast 45 minutes every day. You can slowly increase it to 90 minutes. You can also do some swimming and cycling every day.
- Replace bad foods with good foods. Ditch all the junk, oily , processed, and bingeable foods. Avoid pizzas, burgers, chips, french fries, pastries, cakes and chocolates. Eat more of vegetables and fruits.
- Eliminate processed sugars from your diet. They include white foods like table sugar, pasta, rice, and bread.
- Eat low fat food. Choose low fat dairy products, spreads and salad dressings. And use them sparingly as far as possible. Drink low fat or skimmed milk instead of whole milk.
- Drink plenty of Water. Water will flush out the toxins from your system and make you feel full. So you will feel less hungrier.
- Avoid softdrinks, sodas and other hidden calorie drinks. Alcohol and wine are also high in calories, so avoid them completely.
- Eat Mini Meals. This will keep hunger at bay throughout the day, if you have small, healthy meals. Instead of overloading yourself 3 times a day, eat small meals five times a day. This will keep your energy levels up. Mini meals are the best way to prevent overeating.
- Eat less of meat. Make meat as a side dish rather than as a main part of your meal. Eat more of vegetables and healthy grains, as they will kake you feel full sooner and provide you with fiber.
- When eating snacks between meals, choose healthy snacks. You can have a fresh fruit instead of chocolate or crisps.
- Start your day with skimmed milk, a fresh fruit and 2 toasts instead of a full-fledged breakfast.
- Eat a mid-afternoon snack. This will make you eat less for lunch.
- Say Yes to Salads. Eat a salad before lunch or dinner, this will prevent you from overeating.
- When buying products, look at the labels. Always check the fat and sugar content on the food items.
- If your work requires you to sit for long hours on a chair, go and take a walk after every half an hour. Do the same when watching T.V also. You don’t want to be called a couch potato, do you ???
- Keep a track of your progress. Keep a record of your food intake, exercise and weight loss schedule in a notebook. This will increase the likelihood of your success.

Make exercising fun by working out together. And you can always get inspiration from the other person to lose weight faster, if one of you is losing it fast.
- Treat Yourself once in a while. Eating forbidden food at times will not let you feel deprived. But don’t repeat it too often. So go ahead… indulge in your favourite food !
