Marijuana
is commonly known as pot, weed, reefer, herb, or grass. Although there are many health risks associated with Marijuana, researchers are studying the medicinal benefits of marijuana.
Marijuana may prove helpful in a wide variety of conditions such as:
- AIDS: Marijuana can reduce the nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite caused by AIDS and various AIDS medications
- Glaucoma: It can reduce interlobular pressure, thus alleviating the pain and sometimes stopping the progress of the condition
- Multiple Sclerosis: It can reduce muscle spasms and muscle pain caused by the disease, and may relieve the tremor and unsteadiness of gait
- Cancer: It can stimulate the appetite and reduce nausea and vomiting, which are common side effects of chemotherapy treatment for cancer
- Chronic Pain: It can reduce chronic pain caused by myriad disorders and injuries
- Epilepsy: Sometimes it can prevent epileptic seizures in some patients
But smoking marijuana poses several health risks, that include:
- Impaired thinking, problem-solving skills and memory
- Impaired learning, judgment and complex motor skills
- Distorted perception and reduced balance and coordination
- Difficulty speaking, listening and thinking
- Increased heart rate and increased risk of heart attack
- Weakens the Immune system
- Raises the risk of lung infections and may cause Cancer of the lungs
- Permanent Memory damage from prolonged use
- Risk of chronic cough and respiratory diseases
- Risk of hallucinations and withdrawal symptoms
- Dry mouth and throat
- Bloodshot eyes
- Anxiety or panic attacks
- Paranoia in some users
- Psychological dependence
- Decreased muscle strength
- Asthma
- Low sperm production & decreased sperm mobility
Apart from the above risks, marijuana is an addictive drug with significant health consequences. Users can become dependent on marijuana to the point that they may need treatment to stop marijuana abuse. And it contains more harmful substances than a tobacco smoke. Smoking one marijuana cigarette deposits four times more tar into the lungs than a filtered tobacco cigarette.
Currently there is a huge debate going on about the good and bad effects of Marijuana. But since marijuana is good only if used as a medicine, it is best left to the researchers to make drugs containing marijuana, that may prove beneficial for the patients. So don’t try to explore the benefits, leave it to the medical people. Till then,
kick the habit !!!

I dont not believe that this websites information has not been properly examined. Marijuana is not worse than cigarettes. I know of many users of each and those that smoke tobacco have far worse lungs
I am a 42 year old woman and I have had a sleeping disorder since the age of 13. No trauma just on of those things. I find that marijuana helps me fall asleep within an hour after I smoke it. However, other medications have not worked for me. But, because I must work and marijuana is illegal, I can’t smoke so I go without sleeping. Furthermore, when I suffer from a Sickle Cell Trait Crises, which is very painful, smoking marijuana decreases the pain and muscle tension. It should be legal for medicinal purposes and it has no more or less side effects than other legal drugs.
Why dont you use melatonin (high dose)
Everyone I know who has started their ‘medical pot’ prescripts have turned into ‘freaks’ and I’ve dropped them as friends. All they want to talk about is their pot and the smell is disgusting.
It’s just not worth it for the sake of your brain
